About Us

When we founded Compadre Custom Construction, Inc. in 1997, we wanted to express our dedication to our clients’ best interest and to emphasize our personal approach to every project. We welcome the opportunity to work closely with our clients and architects during the design phase and final planning. We can provide input on materials and methods, value engineering, and the latest in technical issues. We provide detailed documentation with progress photos and “as built” plans for every project.

Russell Coffman is one of the founding members of Compadre and is now President and sole owner. He is onsite every day with the employees and sub contractors and handles the project coordination as well as site supervision. Russell has been building in New Mexico for almost 30 years and has extensive experience with adobe construction as well as the alternate “thick wall” innovations that have been developed over the years, such as Performwall, poured pumice-crete, AAC block (autoclaved aerated concrete) and the ICF (insulated concrete form) systems.

The blending of high quality interior and exterior finishes, fine woodworking, extraordinary stone work and metal craft is another unique aspect of the homes we build. We have extensive and long term relationships with many of the finest artisans and craftspeople in New Mexico. We have a full range of experience in all building styles from the traditional Pueblo and Territorial to Contemporary.

Our expertise also includes advanced Green building science and we incorporate energy efficient technology in every project. We have built several HERS rated projects in the City of Santa Fe and the County. We support the 2030 Challenge.
